So scratch the 15th, it's not going down. Was stoked on the idea, it fell through, things happen. BUT, rest assured that you may not have to wait until August for another one of these superfantasticalawesomeness swaps. We are looking into the idea of a "preview" sale of sorts. Albeit 6 months before the actual sale. Maybe call it an "I can't wait that long" swap. This one will be down and dirty. A couple of sponsors to get the thing going, no races or prizes or such. Just a nice old fashion swap with proceeds going to our favorite charity. Cycles of Change!

I have awoken from my deep slumber

That's right, I have been sleeping since last August. The swap was a success, but also A LOT of work, so I need my rest. I've noticed my skin is a bit pasty and my nails are pretty long, but nothing a quick makeover from "How do I look?" won't fix. But enough of that.

The summerswap is exactlyish 8 months away and many people can't wait that long for the swapping of bicycle parts. I know we can't. So there are some things in the works. Not as mind blowing and cirque de soleil like as the last SBS&P, but good times will be had.

Stay tuned for something around Feb 15th, and as always, send us a note for more info that you may or may not receive. For now, I will leave you with this awesome pic of me as a kid on a 4-wheeler, ready to rock the dunes (notice my Garfield USA shirt?)...

Thanks to the ball's creator, Dustin Long at the Freewheel on Hayes, this event was a huge hit. People we rockin' the long distance throws then falling flat on their faces (thank god for waivers). It was pretty amazing to see. The thing had to weigh about 60 lbs and was made of solid innertubes!

A Quick Thank You

I am beat. But before I hit the couch, watch some TV and eventually fall asleep, i just wanted to say THANKS TO EVERYONE.

I officially deem our swap a success. Thanks to all the planners, Cycles, the sellers, buyers and people who could very well wake up with a sore back tomorrow from the tube ball toss.

Everyone was so supportive and was very generous in their donations. I peeped the boxes and there was some good stuff. That should really help those guys out.

One More Day and CLEARING A FEW THINGS UP

Hey all, so tomorrow is the day and things are going strangely well (knock on wood). Just wanted to clear a couple things up:

ADMISSION IS FREE. No need to RSVP or anything. The whole RSVP thing is for sellers who need a space to sell their wares.
This is a Bicycle Swap Meet. And like any other swap meet, flea market or rummage sale, stuff will be for sale. This isn't a "barter only" event.
There is a pretty good chance that several sellers will have complete bikes. We will also have a COMPLETE SPECIALIZED GLOBE as a grand prize.
There will be a raffle, to enter the raffle, you must buy raffle tickets. There will also be contest in the form of physical challenges. There will also be an entry donation for these events, but mark my words, the prizes will be sweet!
This is a Bicycle Swap meet, so the things for sale will be cycling related. The only exception to this is the Bake Sale and some other delicious food treats.

Sunday August 17th, high noon. The Panhandle, just off of Fell and Masonic near the B-Ball courts (just off the bike path).

What you need to know:

Entry is free
If you would like a space. Email us for a reservation. Spaces filling up. Space "fee" is the donation of one or more parts to Cycles of Change
There will be events of epic proportions (begin training now)
There will be a raffle with mind blowing prizes
Bake Sale and BBQ
There will be fun and merriment

We'll have a bin to donate parts for cycles of change Please make sure your parts are in working condition and can be of some use. CoC also has a "wish list", check it out on their site.

So far 22 sellers have signed up for spaces, not including the spaces the team will be hosting as well as some good stuff that CoC will have for sale. Your bound to walk away with some sweet deals. Stay tuned for a prize update.

Update on Prizes and Donations

The lovely Fix w/o Dix ladies will be donating a gift basket to the event with some goodies including vegan treats, a custom hip pouch, and screen-printed t-shirt.

Box Dog Bikes has also offered up 2 tune-ups including up to $20 in needed parts. I'll have you know that these tune-up packages are valued at $80 each!

Adam, aka onetwentyeight, will also be contributing the labor for one wheel build and 15% off parts from Pacific Bikes, another practical and valuable donation from an upstanding citizen of the San Francisco cycling community.

Cane creek is also sending some goodies. Thanks Peter.

A stellar bake sale is in the works for the appetite you will work up in the fun games and contests being planned. The list is continuously growing, but so far, the baked goodies table will include:

-Homemade jam
-Vegan banana bread
-Vegan chocolate cupcakes
-Handmade breads
-Assorted muffins and cupcakes
-Assorted cookies
-Assorted small tarts and quiche

So you probably should because you owe it to yourself. Why, that's not important. What is, is that you email summerbikeswap@gmail.com and get yourself a space. It's basically free, except for the part where you graciously donate one or more parts to Cycles of Change. Yes, you can donate a kickstand or a set of those crappy Wienmann safetly levers, but that would make you a jerk and the kids would all cry.

Want a Space?

Space for the summer swap is limited and filling up. If you would like to reserve a space, email us. Or you can just take yr chances and show up.

The cost of a space is a rather reasonable donation of one or more bicycle parts that will be donated to cycles of change. If required, those great guys will even give you a receipt so you can stick it to the man in the form of a tax write off.

Cycles of Change also has a wishlist:

Tools (metric combination wrenches, socket wrenches, allen keys, etc.).
Bike donations! specially rust-free bikes in decent working condition and with all basic parts attached.
A space for a central Cycles of Change office & meeting area.
Bike stands.
Connections for or donations of healthy snacks for rides.
Rust-free bicycle parts in good working condition
An iMac G4 or G5 computer for office
An external USB 2 – Firewire hard drive, at least 100 GB of memory.

So if you donate one of the above items, William will hold one of those arrow signs and dance in front of your space.
